Daniel Fast Day 12

Day 12

FASTING INSPIRATION

Fasting has often been used for the growth of the kingdom

Fasting with prayer can act as a sacrificial exchange between our own desires, our own needs, our own personal gain, and replacing that with the gain of God’s Kingdom and the reputation of the King of Kings.

During Israel’s exile, fasting became a norm.  Righteous men became vexed and grieved with the sins of Israel, the state of the kingdom, and the bondage of exile.   Nehemiah mourned over the people of God and the shame that had come upon the Kingdom of God.

And they said to me, “The remnant there in the province who survived the captivity are in great distress and reproach, and the wall of Jerusalem is broken  down and its gates are burned with fire.” Now it came about when I heard these words, I sat down and wept and mourned for days; and I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven. -Nehemiah 1: 3

His prayers were heard, and God moved.  The walls were rebuilt, the gates restored, and God’s people were brought together in unity.  While Nehemiah’s fasting and prayer was focused solely on Israel and its people, our Kingdom perspective is worldwide.  We yearn for the restoration of all God’s people and the reputation of the Lord globally.  The unity, impact, advancement, and influence of all believers is our focus today.  We desire the dissolution of false doctrines and false ministries.  We desire that all believers come into the unity of the faith that belongs to Jesus the head.
